Meals

All meals for this retreat, except for Saturday dinner, are included!  On the first night, join us for a Welcome Cocktail party and dinner.  In addition to all meals, we’ve included  coffee, tea, soft drinks, and cookie breaks.  Except for the Welcome Cocktail gathering, alcoholic beverages are not included in the price of the retreat. We’ll host a Farewell Dinner on our last night.  On Saturday evening, take time to explore the area with some new friends; there are plenty of yummy restaurants within walking distance of the hotel!

Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available: please note your preference in your registration form.

Knitting Classes

Join knit designer Casapinka in class as she demonstrates the stitches that will be used in Sharon of Green Cable’s newest pattern (hint- cables)!  You will receive the MKAL pattern free as part of the retreat, and we will also be knitting the clues together during our stay!  Word on the street is that Sharon will be giving us a special, just for us, short section to insert in our MKAL.

Casapinka will be teaching us her easy intarsia technique class, with a small project that we can frame at home.  We’ll be dyeing a silk project on the first night; it’s super fun and easy to do (and not messy)!

And, of course, we’ve made plenty of time for knitting!  In general, we meet for class after breakfast, break for lunch, then have the afternoon free for knitting and exploring together.  You’ll receive a detailed schedule closer to the retreat date, and we will also host a Zoom meet up prior to the retreat, to get to know each other, and chat about details.

Yarn Market and Swag

Vist our on-site yarn market, curated by Casapinka, where you’ll be able to purchase kits, skeins, and so much more!  We’re really excited about the yarn and merch we’re bringing to the market, and we know that you will be too!

We’ll hopefully have yarn winders available so that you can wind your new yarn and knit ASAP!

Additionally, each reservation includes a luxury Swag Bag, filled with special items selected by Casapinka and Wild Onion.

Ample Knitting Time Plus

What’s a knitting retreat without plenty of time to relax with your new friends and your knitting, especially when the retreat is centered around a pattern written by a cat!  The hotel has many places to sit and relax, and we are researching areas off-site for us to knit, as well.

We are looking into organizing a pub crawl on a solar powered boat and/or bike! This will be an additional option, and will have limited seats available. Please contact us for details, if you are interested.

Transportation Details

Easily fly into the PEI airport (code YYG) from almost any larger airport.  Your flight puts you right in Charlottetown!  From the airport, a taxi (or Uber/Lyft, called “Kari”) to The Great George is under 10 minutes, and costs approximately $18 CAD.  There is also an airport bus for $3 CAD, that will drop you 4 blocks from the hotel.

If you’re driving to the retreat, the hotel offers free parking.
